Utricularia Bisquamata is an especially beautiful, and satisfying to grow Bladderwort, for any gardener, experienced or inexperienced. This Bladderwort displays grass blade-like leaves that rest flat upon the sphagnum moss or other media in which they grow. However, underneath the surface of the moss, they have long roots that stretch deep below. And, all along these roots, all over them really, are small, bladder shaped traps, that are  waiting for unsuspecting  prey all day and night.

These bladder shaped traps function in a fascinating manner. When no prey is contained within the trap, remains in a static position, with  a constant partial vacuum taking place within the trap. There is a mechanism utilizing bifid glands, that works to constantly consistently pump water out of the traps. This also causes the sides of the bladderwort to warp slightly inward, creating potential energy due to the tension of this warping.  At the end of these traps, there are several trigger hairs that are directly connected to the opening of the bladder trap. Whenever potential prey happens to unluckily touch these hairs, the bladder shaped trap will rapidly open its mouth , which is located on the same end of the trap as the trigger hairs. The mouth opens because of the the potential energy being released. Once this warp curves back to concave, the surrounding water is immediately sucked into the trap. This incredible action is how these Carnivorous Plants get their nutrient needs met.

Utricularia Bisquamata also grow beautiful white flowers. These flowers are able to produce copious amounts of seeds that are so small they appear almost as if they are powder. These seeds once having landed on the sphagnum moss or other media below, will sprout numerous more bladderworts soon after.
