Bladderwort Seeds - Blanchetii and Subulata
Harvested from our in-house Bladderworts (Utricularia), this seed pack contains 100+ seeds. The pack includes Blanchetii and Subulata varieties. These Carnivorous Plants are both beautiful, as well as unique. They cultivate extraordinarily gorgeous flowers, Blanchetii grows ones that are purple and white in color, and Subulata grows ones that are a vivid yellow.
The part of these plants that actually Carnivorous, are their roots. Incredibly, along with performing as completely functioning roots, pulling water into the plants, the roots of Utricularia are lined almost completely, with small bladder shaped, sacks made of the plants' tissue. These bladders contain nothing but air when no prey has been caught. However, on the ends of these bladders, there are numerous trigger hairs. When these hairs are contacted by a passing terrestrial insect or animal of some kind, a cleverly evolved mechanism allows for the mouth of these bladders traps to open up instantly, and since the inside, when closed, these were filled with only air, now that they are opening they sucks in all of the surrounding water and animal life.
Once filled up with the water and hopefully prey, the mouth of the bladder traps closes back up again, sealing all it has caught inside. Digestives enzymes begin to decompose the prey, extracting all useful nutrients that may be present.
