The plant will produce these beautiful, spoon shaped leaves from spring, all the way through summer and partially into fall. Once it begins to enter its dormancy phase, Drosera Intermedia will allow its leaves to die off and eventually dry out. During this period there is some small remnant of life remaining at the base of the plant, but that is all. It will appear as though there are very small stems beginning to  uncurl, as if new  growth  were to emerge, but it will simply remain  appearing this way until spring weather comes and new leaves really emerge. Another fact that separates Intermedia from Drosera Spatulata, is the fact that it Intermedia goes through a period of dormancy. This Sundew is another one of the Carnivorous Plant community's' absolute favorites. And this is, of course, for very good reason. Drosera intermedia is  often referred to as the Oblong-leaved Sundew, and is able to, as well, display the most extraordinary, vivid, red pigmentation. This, like it's releatives, is encouraged by ample amounts of light. To be specific, light on the blue side of the spectrum is what instigates anthocyanins, which are what cause the red pigmentation that many Drosera are so well known for.
